We are a family owned bookstore who specializes in product of particular interest to Latter-day Saints.
In addition to thousands of books, we carry a full range of LDS products. While we try to have most of the products we carry - represented on this website, there are simply too many to list them all, and it is an impossible task to keep up with. To see the full range, one really has to come into the store.
In early 1996, we bought the local LDS Bookstore in Edmonton Alberta, called "Generation Gap" and moved it to its present south-side location, making many managerial changes. We expanded to almost double the size in the fall of 2004. It has been a lot of fun growing and learning along the way, with lots of frustration and hard work to balance out the good times. All five of our children have worked in the bookstore till they left on their missions, and still help out from time to time when they are needed. That has been the fun part.
We have always been blessed with having the best employees, and the staff we have now are no exception. We have an excellent team. When you shop at Generations you will probably be talking to either Cindy, Kay, Heather, or Scarlett (who also speaks Spanish). From time to time, you may also be speaking to Dan, Luke or Joseph.
At Generations, it is our goal and commitment to 'know our product'. In fact we believe that is our greatest strength. It is our belief that we are not in the business of selling, we are in the business of matchmaking. Being a destination store, we know that our clients don't just 'happen' into our store. You come for a reason.
It is our job to know our product so well, that all we have to do is to direct you to that title that will best fill your needs. It's easy to make good matches when you sell the world's best product.
Generations is the place where friends meet friends.
-It's where you meet old friends, and where you make new friends.
-It's where you come when you have some time to yourself when you just want to browse in a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere.
-It's where you come when you want to leave life's worries behind, or when you want some help with them.
-It's where you come when you want friendly staff who know their product,
and who allow you the time to browse but are there to offer suggestions and advice if you need it.
When you're at Generations, you're among friends, and so are we.
Welcome to our store. Come in and make yourself comfortable. Need help? We're only a click away. We'd be happy to answer your questions, and will endeavor to get your online order out to you as soon as possible.

"I just wanted to let you know how much we've appreciated the service you've given us, the thoughtful little extras in our packages, and how helpful you've been on the phone (I don't know what J. has gotten me yet, but he says you helped him choose something wonderful!) My mom owns a store, and I know the time and effort it takes to not just get the job done, but to do it well, and with your customer's best interest in mind. Thanks you so much, it is a pleasure to do business with you." - R.S.
"I love your store and I love all of you! I think you are all just the greatest and I appreciate your warmth and your assistance every time I am in there. I got an e-mail a couple of days that stated that you all were hiring part time and I was wishing that I could quit my job because I think it would be so wonderful to be surrounded by such beautiful things and such wonderful people!" - K.C.
"Thank you for your kind email. This is the first time someone has taken the time to apologize on an online order! So right there you are now my new favorite online bookstore. Please don't worry about it since I will get it in plenty of time anyway.. I understand this crazy time of year where we have to rush everything to make everyone happy; It's the same here where I work! I am looking forward to watching the movie. I will let you know when it is delivered. Please extend my Holiday wishes to everyone at Generations and to you of course. Sincerely," - Lyne
"I was in the store yesterday again and got the music that was on hold (and more). I have enjoyed it so much. Thanks for all you do for us to have joy in reading, music, concerts and more for our well being." - H.J.
"You people make a significant difference in the lives of people who are interested in finding new and different and uplifting things, whether - art, books or music, and I think you of all people have stepped outside the box and have found such a wealth of information and are doing your level best to bring it to your customoers and potential customers- what else could you do?" - L.H.
"Hi. I just wanted to tell you about a book I bought there last week in the clearance box. It is 'from my fathers with love' about geneology. I loved it! It was such a testimony builder of the blessings we receive when we do our family history. Thanks for having such good books at your store. We are SO lucky to have an lds bookstore in our area." - A.G.
"Thanks so much for opening up your store for a women's evening. It was great! I loved the sales and walked away with some pretty wonderful things. My favorite is the new Kenneth Cope CD!...and the Master Novel." - Katie
"My son is reading the book you recommended and is loving it very much. He loves Joseph Smith. How lucky i am that he has acquired a love for such a great man. At least i have hope for better things from him if he has a desire to continue a thirst for knowledge about a man like Joseph Smith. Thank you for helping him when we were in. I might be back soon for the other book. I think you said there was a second book to the one he got. If you still have it will you set it aside for me. Thanks" - C.S.
" I started Keeping Keller this afternoon and am on page 90. It is really good. I'm really impressed with her style of writing and how it all flows so well and keeps my interest. It is better than I even imagined it could be. I can just see so much of her heart is in it too, just so many feelings and thoughts and experiences that she has had. It is sort of heartbreaking at times. I plan to keep buying copies for everyone that I have to give gifts to this year." - K.F.
"You probably don't get many thank you emails, but here's one: My wife Loved the John Bytheway compilation CD set, and she LOVED the autographed copy of 4-Ordained's latest CD. Thanks for providing your excellent service. I will certainly be using you in the future. Best Regards," - T.E.
"While I was away I had a friend in San Diego go thru Breast Cancer. It brought so many things to my remembrance. I shared with her the story of my painting [Mother, by Liz Lemon Swindle] and gave her a small copy of it. I just want you to know that even after all this time I still feel such deep love and joy when I look at or even think of that special painting. It is the focal point of my home and my heart. I truely feel Christ's arms around me at all times, and that painting has helped me to realize how he is always there for me. Thank you again and again! Love " - B.G.
"... aside from patronizing your store, it's the least I can do to support the absolutely necessary and selfless service you provide to the Latter-day Saints in Northern Alberta. Kindest Regards" - RBW
